A key theme in Sprint’s brand story is their commitment to lowering their impact on the planet. They challenged DDW to make their packaging a meaningful proof point to consumers. (Think millions of boxes per year.)

DDW researched and designed a glue-free kraft box with soy inks, water-based coatings, and no plastic whatsoever. We then commissioned a life cycle assessment company to measure the magnitude of these improvements. The results were profound.

The Sprint Less is More video tells the story of how Sprint’s packaging and dedication to sustainability saved trees, fossil fuels and other pollutants. It also set a precedent in the industry towards best practices in sustainability.

Sprint’s sustainable packaging turned out to be an effective way to connect with customers. It also put Sprint on Newsweek’s Top 500 Greenest Companies two years in a row. It earned DDW a couple of design awards to boot — namely the American Graphic Design & Advertising’s “Best of Category” Award and the Creativity International Award for “Best Green Packaging.”

The We’re All Connected Sprint video shows the packaging lifecycle / inspiring a move towards sustainability throughout the industry. DDW, in partnership with Sprint, set the bar for the creation of packaging that minimized negative environmental effects.
